Solid hardwood unfinished

One of the many benefits of solid wood flooring is it can be sanded and refinished many times. Solid hardwood flooring is also extremely durable. The fact the floor come on a raw state the wood has to be installed sanded and finished in place usually 3 coats of polyurethane, and also can be stained to a desired color.

Solid hardwood is generally what most people think of when they imagine hardwood flooring. It consists of one piece of wood from your preferred species (e.g. red oak).

Prefinished Solid Hardwood Floors.

Prefinished hardwood is similar to unfinished hardwood, but it arrives already finished at the factory. Installation is typically faster because there’s no on-site sanding or finishing. Prefinished floors also offer a wider range of colors and durable factory-applied coatings.

Engineered Flooring

Engineered hardwood floors are also made of real wood, but include multiple layers, with the top layer made of the precious wood, combining with other species of fast growth.

While this type of flooring can be sanded and refinished, it cannot be done as many times as solid wood flooring. The multi-ply construction of engineered hardwood flooring makes it less susceptible to moisture damage, ideal for basements. Due to its stability, the use of engineered hardwood floors is continuously increasing.

The engineered hardwood floors are also considered more environmentally friendly than solid wood floors as it uses less wood to manufacture the same floor.

Vinyl Floors

Vinyl is a type of flooring that is made out of synthetic materials such as fiberglass, PVC Vinyl, and a plasticizer. It’s especially durable because it’s made from multiple layers and has a thick core to keep you comfortable when you’re walking.

Vinyl flooring is thicker than in the past, making todays vinyl floors entirely waterproof.
